kids of my own, but I still enjoy it when my parents show me things

I think when you have a
kid with any type of issue the FIRST thing you should do is cut out all the bad
stuff from their diet (dyes, crappy food, etc) and then figure out if food or dye is a trigger for them.
Some parents and experts believe that
kids need to know where their food comes
from and understand how it affects their bodies, and that we can't educate them about food choices if we're sneaking
stuff in and not being honest about what we're feeding them.
I truly believe, if any parent wants the best for their
kids, espically for school lunches, they should pack a lunch for the child, then no matter what is being served at the school, you will know what your child is eating, but, if you are to lazy, or have nothing better to do with your time go ahead and complain about all the free
stuff your getting
from the government, and then complain some more because taxes are being raised and services cut to pay for these lunch freebee ’s
There are so many benefits to spending time in the great outdoors with your family too... stress relief, being unplugged
from technology, time to talk, and little
kids (and big
kids) have a chance to explore using their imagination and find ways to play with sticks, acorns, rocks and all kinds of fun
stuff!
I saw online yesterday that the Today Show did a segment on whether or not working moms take advantage of moms who stay at home with their
kids or moms who work
from home (for the purpose of this blogpost working moms are moms AND DADS who work outside of the home — because dads have said some of this
stuff too.
And when it comes down to it, if given the choice, my
kids would rather have a (relatively) rested, calm, relaxed and PRESENT mom to come home to after school and to tuck them in at night than one who is their class mom and girl scout troop leader and baseball team mom and who runs the school store organizes the school fundraiser and is on every board there is to be on in town (I don't do all that
stuff, but you get the point) and who is also a complete and total stressed out and spread thin raging lunatic
from the moment they get home until the moment they are in bed.
Washing things, bending over to pick things up, folding things, putting things back where they belong,
stuffing things in a bag and carrying them with you, making your
kids put things down, kindly requesting that your
kids give things to you, buying more of the right kind of things to prevent you
from needing to buy more things.
Two of those for me are cutting myself off
from work
stuff at 2:30, making sure I'm showered and dressed before the
kids get home
from school rather than staying in sweaty workout clothes and showering after the older
kids get home, and not unpacking lunch boxes immediately after the
kids walk in the door.
All of that
stuff conveys a lot of psychological messages, sometimes explicitly and sometimes implicitly to students, that the research now suggests has an enormous impact on how motivated
kids are to persevere, to stick with difficult tasks, and bounce back
from setbacks.
