Is
the kilz primer a latex or oil?
My question is: would it be ok the use
Kilz primer before spray painting the counter top and for the finish touch what about a semi gloss polycrylic?
first I sanded with 80 grit sand paper then I put
a kilz primer on it.
To get good coverage it involved one coat of
Kilz primer, followed by three coats of Benjamin Moore «Simply White».
First, cover over any of the colored mill printing (you'll know it when you see it) with a nice coat of
the KILZ primer.
After a good cleaning with warm vinegar water, I sprayed a coat of
Kilz primer, which I had tinted as dark as they could make it.
My husband said I should get
kilz primer and stain cover well all the sites said shellac well.

If you were using a paint color other then white and were going to sand to distress, though... you should not use
Kilz or any white
primer since you would see the white layer in between the wood and the paint color when you sand.

primer in one... Another question is, should I use
Kilz original stain blocking
primer 1st... seeing as its a ugly dark brown desk....
I will try
KILZ oil based
primer.

primer to finally get rid of the stench... luckily for me, it only took one coat to do the job:)

I'm currently trying to paint some headboards and am having difficulty with the
primer (
Kilz) not adhering: -LRB-
Then the walls ended up taking five coats of paint in some places... three of
Kilz (
primer) and two of the paint.
When dry, use
Kilz spray
primer.
After I had sanded it to death, I wiped it down with mineral spirits and then sprayed it with
KILZ oil - based
primer.
Since the
KILZ Complete Coat ™ is a paint &
primer - in - one, we just brushed it directly onto the wood, and I'm so pleased with the finish and how little touch - up was needed after the first coat.

KILZ ®'s cans, and the level of propulsion at which the
primer sprays out is second to none.
Up until recently, we've used spray
primer (
Kilz) and spray paint (mostly Krylon).

I used
Kilz oil - based
primer to block the oils or glues that are common in paneling and it has withstood the abuse of three kids and their friends in a much - used basement!
Using
kilz oil base
primer should keep the cabinets from yellowing and limit the paint chipping after the whole process because it's sealing in all of the dark color and oil base paint is more durable than latex.
For the desk, I started with 2 coats of
Kilz Latex
Primer applied with a foam roller on the large areas and a small paint brush for the fine details.
If I am painting an old piece white — I use one coat of
Kilz Original
primer on it.
Use stain blocking
primer if the panels are real unfinished or stained wood (
Kilz is a good
primer for this).
Primer paint used:

I liked this
primer a lot, it's thinner than
kilz (which I usually use) and I bought it on accident but it was a happy accident because it went on easy and dried fast.
