Kindles sales increasing four-fold on Black Friday this year, I've seen estimates of the 8 million Kindles currently in use jumping to 25 million after Christmas (Amazon doesn't release its numbers).

As the

Yet Amazon insists it makes almost no money and they refuse to show how much they are paying authors from this huge

I'm less inclined to think of KU as something Amazon is completely focused on monetizing, and more inclined to think that KU may be considered a loss leader within the company, the purpose of which is to ensure continued and escalating
sales (in addition to a larger market share) for
Kindles, Kindle Fires, etc., by
increasing the amount of content for current and future users to consume.
KINDLE UNLIMITED Amazon's exclusive
Kindle Unlimited program (pink) overlaps with the regular Amazon market (red), but mostly, being in KU
increases your visibility because all
sales / borrows are on the same retailer.
I do have to say, I've seen an
increase in
sales of my two other books, Temptation to Sin and State of Ecstasy, but then again, I reduced the prices of all my
kindle books by $ 2.00.
The book continued to kick out a nice stream of income through 2016 though, along with
increased sales of How to Get Free Accommodation Around the World since I updated / redesigned / released the 2nd edition and reduced the price, and I also had an
increase in
kindle sales of Tales of Trains: Where the Journey is the Destination.
