Not only does the game have Reznor as a mini boss in fortresses, but it has
the Koopalings as castle bosses!
So not only do we have Reznor's first appearance in about 20 years, but now all
the Koopalings as bosses as well!
I actually didn't expect myself to be nearly as fond of
the Koopalings as I am right now.
Similarly, it feels a little cheap to add the seven
Koopalings as driver instead of bolstering the playable range with more varied characters.
Indeed, Super Mario Odyssey doesn't bring back
the Koopalings as Bowser's minions.

maybe there could be two bosses in each world:
Koopalings and a monster along the lines of a Petey Pirahna or Gooper Blooper, then in the final world, Bowser Jr. and Bowser It'd also be nice to some Super Mario Bros 2 elements
as well.

I hope Mario Party expands and grows, for MP11 I think they'll not only add boss battles, but also add
Koopaling battles to Mario Party 11,

as story mode.
Finally, after the return of the
Koopalings, Bowser Jr. lost special treatment and was lumped together with them
as Bowser's biggest minions.
And
as seen in many recent games (SM3DL, NSMB2, SM3DW) it's entirely possible to go without him (and the
Koopalings).
Yeah, and I've been thinking of doing a reboot of Captain N, but rather more crosses over with Hyperdimension Neptunia (the four main goddesses being Lana's bodyguards), more characters from Sega (Sonic (and the Freedom Fighters, but only in their redesigns in the Post-Genesis Wave portion, NiGHTS, Super Monkey Ball, etc.), Capcom (Megaman and Street Fighter), Konami (Castlevania and MGS), Nintendo (the cast of Mario will make their appearances officially, along with Peach, Rosalina, Daisy, Bowser and the
Koopalings and the Kong Family (besides Donkey Kong) also appear
as well) and Namco (because of Pacman).
Also, the Super Leaf power - up, the jump blocks, the Tanooki Suit,
as well
as the
Koopalings, all return in this game.
Instead of battling 7 fake Bowsers and 1 real one in the last level,
as in the original game, this time the first 7 worlds of the game are guarded by the 7
Koopalings (Bowser's children that serve
as bosses of their worlds.

as the Virtual Console page of the game all say that Koopas used black magic in order to turn inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom into stones, plants and bricks, while the real fact is that only

The only Mario characters with a fanbase

As per usual, this first
Koopaling is also one of the easiest in the game.
As a result of this, there is pretty much no chance you'll ever die in combat in this game, unless you're either super unlucky with Kamek or got one shotted by a
Koopaling whose weakness you didn't bring in the first place.

as the Treasure Ship has a randomly - assorted stack of wooden blocks in a dark background (only the Airship level of World 8 is exempt,
as it is completely pitch black in terms of background), though the remakes change it to a background with stormy windows.
You can even race
as Bowser's seven minions, the
Koopalings!
The main ending is I guess a bit different in that you see the
Koopalings and Bowser lie defeated in the background
as Mario carries Peach back to the castle.
As absolutely everyone likely figured out, the SMB 1 Bowser battle looks to be merely a first phase in a long final fight, with the
Koopalings coming in about halfway through to change the tide of battle.
Haven't seen the latter in a while, but damn it'll be sweet to smash
Koopaling heads in
as Mega Mario or beat up Reznor
as an invincible giant!
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U / Nintendo 3DS, despite being the best all - around Smash Bros. so far, kind of took a step back in this regard, which made less sense than ever seeing
as some characters (Bowser Jr. /
Koopalings and Olimar / Alph) simply swapped into identical characters.
I mean, we've already got the
Koopalings and Reznor, might
as well complete the set!
Because
as it is so far, it really does look like Nintendo is taking a lot of influence from Super Mario World in respect to what things return in the next two New Super Mario Bros games, now with the
Koopalings, Reznor, Yoshis, Clown Car and various other things.
