The open world you can explore feels like one giant
LEGO game hub level when you're not on a mission, with lots of things to do and find, sometimes requiring the abilities of Chase's disguises and vehicles.

I think it'll be the same like the previous
LEGO games (before Undercover) where you have a
hub world where you select the missions
Instead of New York City, the
hub world for the original
game, in
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, you'll explore Chronopolis.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers currently holds the record for being the
LEGO game with the most amount of
hub worlds.
LEGO The Lord of the Rings [$ 4.99], as a shared release with the other major handheld
game systems, was cut down from the console versions in many respects, offering a few decent - sized
hubs but taking out the interesting RPG elements.
The more recent
LEGO games have had large
hub worlds that players can explore once they have unlocked enough of the
game and
LEGO Marvel's Avengers does not look like bucking the trend.
Don't be fooled, this is still very much a
hub - world: missions, once activated, will still take place in traditional linear
LEGO levels, but it's a much, much larger environment than TT have ever created before for any of their
games before.
Even though they «finished» the
game weeks ago, they still play on
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 as often as I'll let them, just roaming around in the
hubs and trying out the characters and what they can do.
The new mashed up central
hub looks fantastic and seeing the contrast between the Avengers Mansion and next to it Manhattan Noir — where the whole screen goes black and white when entering the area — got me very excited for a
LEGO game for the first time since the first Marvel
game.
The
game includes a prologue, ten chapters and an epilogue for the story missions encompassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as six unlockable story missions, while there are five
hubs and even character specific side missions including 4 bounty hunter missions, 12 first order missions, 8 resistance missions, 8 scavenger missions and 6 translation missions with all of the classic
LEGO gameplay trademarks the series has became known for, alongside the introduction of some new features including excellent third - person cover shooter based blaster battles.
LEGO Batman predated the Open World
games, so players are limited to the Batcave
Hub.
Probably my favourite
LEGO game to date, I'd definitely suggest picking this up on the new - gen platforms: the world is a lot crisper, the central
hub far more detailed, and everything is much smoother.

Hub
Whilst other
LEGO games have traditionally put you across a series of levels with a small
hub that acts a passageway between them,
LEGO City Undercover instead has all the action take place in a huge open world city a la «Grand Theft Auto» (or any other open world sandbox
game for that matter).
