As a result of these and other findings,
Lamaze International updated our six evidence - based key practice papers in Fall 2009 to ensure women realize that these practices simplify the
birth process with a natural approach that helps alleviate fears and manage pain, with the ultimate goal of keeping labor and
birth as safe and healthy as possible for each individual woman...
We have a lot of pregnancy classes going on — things like
Lamaze, early pregnancy education, couples massage during pregnancy and even support groups like the
birth circle.
The
Lamaze technique puts particular emphasis on natural childbirth, but does not in any way judge women who opt for medical intervention and / or pain relief (if you want a prenatal class which specifically promotes
birth without medication of any kind, try a class taught according to the Bradley Method - you'll find details online).
Lamaze breathing techniques have been used for many years as a means of helping with natural childbirth, and it is a great way to have the
birth partner or coach involved as well.
Instructors welcome adult
birth partners of all kinds - if a friend or another relative is going to be by your side when the time comes, then he or she should be with you at the
Lamaze classes too!
Lamaze is one of the different birthing methods meant to encourage a non-medicated
birth.
A natural
birth allows a woman to go through the entire birthing process using techniques such as
Lamaze, relaxation, even hypnosis, to remain relaxed and involved with the
birth.
Ok, so toys are probably not the first thing you'd associate with giving
birth, but there are certain «toys» such as
Lamaze exercise or birthing balls, which can help to make a woman more comfortable during labor.
Lamaze International believes that once normal
birth is once again the standard, then and only then will women have the opportunity to make truly informed choices about the
birth of their baby.
By achieving that goal,
Lamaze joins worldwide advocacy efforts to promote, protect, and support normal
birth.
