Earlier this week at its annual conference in Moncton, the Canadian Association of Law
Libraries announced that the Osgoode Society for Canadian
Legal History book series was the winner of the 2015 Hugh Lawford Award for Excellence in
Legal Publishing.
The real thrust of the project is to act as a catalyst for integrating the School's
history,
library collections and archival resources into the life and work of the Osgoode community by involving the students in developing and curating exhibitions, both physical and virtual, that illustrate the dramatic changes in
legal education and the profession over the course of the past century and document Osgoode's role in them.
There is a stimulus to digitalize and preserve the print record of Canadian
legal history through the Canadian Association of Law
Libraries.
The process of pulling dusty
legal books off the shelf in the law
library to check a decision's subsequent citation
history was a tedious, tiresome affair.
