At that time I took all my photos in my student kitchen in such yellow
light and the
food looked pretty inedible, so I started working on my
photography skills and learnt a lot along the way.

When I started my blog back in 2009, blogger
food photography was a totally different ballgame — a point - and - shoot camera and enough
light to produce an in - focus image was sufficient.
In
light of the holiday, I thought it would be fun to highlight some old
food photography of mine from 2010 when I last posted about Irish Soda Bread.

In an attempt to capture this simple yet delicious weeknight meal I rushed to my room, set up my camera -LCB- neglecting everything I learned about good
food photography and styling last weekend -RCB- and was positively surprised that I could actually take pictures in natural
light at 6.20 pm.....

I hardly ever take pictures of my dinner because natural
light works best for
food photography (at least for me) so I shut down my camera when daylight starts to wane.
The
lighting was a dream come true for
food photography..
And although I'd love to keep upping my
food photography game, waiting for the perfect
light or taking the time to perfectly style or compose the shot just isn't going to be happening right now.
This past week, I pre-made 24 vegan pumpkin muffins so they could spend the entire 45 minutes experimenting with
food photography: different backgrounds, angles,
lighting, poses etc..
It gives you so many information from the basis of
food photography to camera settings to the usage of
light (artificial and natural), composition but also your workspace.
I wanted to comment on your very nice
food photography, too, but it's not because of the camera — it's the nice directional
lighting and your sense of composition.
True to the title, the
food really is vibrant, and I love that the
photography, which is
light - filled and richly colored, compliments the bright and healthy feel of the
food so gorgeously.
Elegant late night dinners in intimate dimly -
lit venues are perfect for enjoying fine
food and even finer company, but alas, they are the great enemy of
food photography.
Let's face it beautiful
photography makes
food look a lot more yummy than a quickly taken, poorly
lit snap.
As if PHP's and HTML's were not enough to break my head, learning
photography, composition,
lighting,
food styling and all is giving me sleepless nights, all for the love of blogging.
These look much more appetizing if the
lighting was better, but considering we corked this just before serving the
food, my limited
photography skills were in the tank by this point

The venue was big enough to accommodate a large runway, a
light - show backdrop,
photography shoots, fashion and beauty vendors,
food and drink stands, and the designers with plenty of front - row and close - up seating.
I love photographing
food (and studying
food photography) because I love seeing all of the elements (like the right
lighting, camera angle, focus, props, ingredients, and garnishes) come together to produce a beautiful image.
Photography and healthy
food are closely related in my life and I find my inspiration in capturing the authentic, vibrant splendor of whole ingredients by using natural
light.
