Both shows open this week, but what one curator a few months ago called an art - world «battle royale» — the two megadealers competing over the work of a super-profitable artist — has settled into something else, and just maybe what Koons wanted all along: the beginning of a Year of Koons, culminating in summer 2014's full - career retrospective at the Whitney Museum — its last exhibition in its Madison Avenue headquarters before moving to the bottom of the High Line.

Connie Butler is Chief Curator of Drawings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where she has curated such exhibitions as «Marlene Dumas: Measuring Your Own Grave» (2008 - 09) and «Paul Sietsema Figure 3» (2009) and co-curated «On Line: Drawing Through the 20th Century» (2010 - 11).

The panel was preceded by a brief introduction of The Donor Project by Jenny Carolin, exhibiting artist, and Melanie Kress, Assistant Curator of High Line Art, moderated.

In London, the Whitechapel Gallery revisits key chapters of Exhibition Histories with a conversation between artist Lubaina Himid and curator and researcher Paul Goodwin (March 3) around three seminal exhibitions Himid curated in early 1980s London: «Five Black Women», Africa Centre (1983), «Black Women Time Now», Battersea Arts Centre (1983 - 4) and «The Thin Black Line», Institute of Contemporary Arts (1985).
