I didn't have any croissants nor challah
which is what the original
recipe called for, but I had half a
loaf of soft buttery brioche so I used that as the base.
To amend for the baking sins committed whilst making Deb's most excellent just - the way - it is
recipe, I added a handful of chocolate chips to the batter, all of
which sunk during baking to the bottom of the
loaf.
Last year I created my all time favourite
recipe for gingerbread cake in
loaf form (it has pumpkin in it
which I think is why it's so ridiculously moist)

recipe calling for 1.5 tsp of baking soda is like putting two TABLESPOONS of baking powder into this little tiny

which is a crazy amount.

which are so expensive that they'd cost me almost half my food budget for the week.

loaf, but I've made quite a few muffin
