Ride hailing - app Uber is legal in
London, according to a High Court ruling that will spark further hostilities between the
taxi app and the capital's black
cab drivers.
BRANDREPUBLIC — July 9 — The UK Public Carriage Office, which regulates advertising on vehicles across the UK, has banned married dating website IllicitEncounters.co.uk from advertising on
taxi cabs in
London.
Looking somewhat like a plastic surgery treatment gone wrong, Nissan says the new face of its «
Taxi for
London» is meant to mimic the appearance of the city's classic black
cabs.
An earlier version of the NV200
London taxi shown by Nissan also sported two extra jump seats in addition to the three - person rear bench to match the traditional
London cab's five - person rear seating capacity, but it's unclear if this final production version retains these extra seats.
There are only 22,000 Hackney

London Taxi Company, who tried to secure a trademark for the shape of its
cabs.

taxi insurance in
London.
In related Uber news, a group of supporters of
London's black
cab taxis this week kicked off a crowdfunding campaign they're hoping will finance an application to secure a judicial review of the legality of Uber's PHV licence — arguing that TfL failed to uphold the existing law when it granted Uber a licence to operate in 2012.
