Low light shots come pretty clear thanks to soft flash, but it's not the great one.
The low light shots come out with the lack of sharpness and I also noticed the noise.

As with most smartphone cameras, the best results
comes from well -
lit environments however, indoor and
low -
light shots from the Mate S are actually quite good.
Every
shot we snapped on the S3
came out better than the Galaxy Nexus, especially in
low -
light conditions.
The Galaxy S9 + gets close as an overall package, offering more features and arguably better
low -
light shots, but
comes up short enough in colors and dynamic range that it isn't quite as good as the Pixels.
As for image quality, the Redmi Note 5 is identical to the Mi A1 — photos taken in daylight have a lot of detail, but the camera suffers when it
comes to
low -
light shots.
The only downside is the camera, which while decent at outdoor
shots struggles when it
comes to
low -
light imagery.
Photos
come out saturated and with plenty of dynamic range, and the phone is one of the best at
shooting in
low -
light scenarios.
The biggest highlight of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is its 16 MP front camera which
comes with an LED flash for
shooting selfies in
low light conditions.
Many
came out quite grainy — particularly in mid to
low light — and action
shots were next to impossible to catch.
Both lenses
come with f / 1.9 aperture promising better
low -
light shots and dual - tone flashes.
You get incredibly detailed
shots in bright conditions, but the camera struggles to keep up with the likes of the Galaxy S7 or LG G5 when it
comes to
low -
light photos.
The Galaxy S7's camera is already the best in class when it
comes low -
light shots, so unless you take a lot of photos at night, the S8's camera isn't a huge deal.
And it's paid off, although the Xperia Z5 Compact is an improvement for Sony rather than a market - leading photography device: during testing, some of the
low -
light shots I took in the British Museum would definitely have
come out better with another handset.
The Axon 7 does stumble a bit when it
comes to
low -
light shots, and its loud speakers don't always offer the best bass.
As for
low -
light imagery, most
shots I took just ended up
coming muddy and full of noise.
So while smartphone cameras are traditionally bad for
shooting indoors, the ZenFone
comes with a
low -
light Owl mode.
Things aren't so rosy when it
comes to
low -
light shooting, as the camera starts to struggle when focusing on subjects.
As for the images themselves, photos taken in daylight conditions
come out with plenty of detail, but
low -
light shots are devoid of colors.
Overall, the S8 remains the top camera phone on the market right now, especially when it
comes to
low -
light shooting, but the OnePlus 5 isnt too far behind, and quite impressive for the price.
Focus isn't always as fast as we'd like, and so some
shots came out blurry during our test period — an issue compounded in
low light when software stabilization kicks in to salvage every last photon from the scene.
We all know how most smartphone cameras often become poor when it
comes to taking
shots in areas with
low light.
OnePlus also says that the OnePlus 5T camera
comes with «Intelligent Pixel Technology» that averages four pixels into one in a bid to deliver better
shots in
low -
light conditions.
It
comes with a 16MP Sony sensor, autofocus, LED Flash, real - time HDR and OIS, but now the aperture is a larger f / 1.9 for better
low -
light pictures and the camera speed was dramatically increased and now takes less than a second to open and be ready to
shoot.
These
shots come from an album on Flickr (mirrored on Imgur, via Reddit) and they give us a sense of what the camera is capable of in
low -
light situations.
One of the other changes to
come into effect with the T model is the changing of one of the two rear cameras which was made to offer owners an improved
low -
light shooting experience.
Shots come out with great dynamic range, and I just love the noise control of the 6P even in
low light.
Every single
low -
light shot with that main sensor and f / 1.5 lens is smoother, sharper and clearer than what the Pixel 2 XL captures, and when it
comes to
low -
light shots those things are far more noticeable than the Pixel 2 XL's better colors and white balance.
The camera doesn't hold up well when it
comes to
low -
light imagery — that's still a limitation for budget devices — but in bright conditions, you'll get great
shots from the Redmi Note 4.
Photos taken from the phone
come out decent in daylight conditions, but the G5 Plus pulls in much more detail and contrast — both in daytime and
low -
light shots.
In
low light situations, the Moto Z is quite slow to capture an image, especially if you are using HDR, while the Galaxy S7 Edge remains really fast when it
comes to focusing and taking a
shot.
The Samsung smartphone camera does have some trouble with white balance in
low light conditions, but the photos still
come with a lot more detail when compared to
shots taken with the Moto Z.
The S9 + also has a dual aperture of f / 1.5 and f / 2.4 on the wide - angle sensor though, adjusting automatically to the
lighting conditions, which offers improvements on the Note 8 camera, when it
comes to
low -
light shooting.
If you're not a fan of the Pixels, the Mate 10 Pro offers a camera experience that's far more feature - filled, with day - and
low -
light shots that
come out nearly as well.
The camera sensor has 4K video recording support and
comes with dual - LED flash support to offer dual - tone
lighting in
low -
light shots.
The camera quality is above average to excellent (in
low light environment it does
shoot good quality images), it
comes with f / 1.9 aperture that takes in more
light and captures better quality image in any
lighting conditions.
The camera also
comes with improvements for
low -
light shots.
As expected,
low -
light camera samples didn't
come out as impressive at daytime
shots.
But when it
comes to
low -
light performance, the Alpha lacks detail and
shots often
come out very blurry and out of focus.
And unlike the Moto G5 Plus, which on paper has an identical camera setup, I
came away from the Moto Z2 Play with a bunch of great
low -
light shots that I wanted to share.
The camera app is packed with a variety of features, and
comes with 20 different
shooting modes, including beautification,
low light, depth of field, timelapse, and more, so there is a whole lot you can do with this camera.
