Whitewall caught up with Bradford as he was preparing a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (which closed August 14); a show at the Albright - Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo that pairs his work against Ab - Ex practitioner Clyfford Still's striking paintings (
on view through October 2); and a
massive site - specific painting at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum and
Sculpture Garden (to be unveiled November 17).
