Consider the amount of
processed and frozen foods (these are packed with sodium and often times
MSG) you're consuming or the amount of water you drink each day.
It is made from a proprietary whole milk - based fermentation
process and is rich in potassium, but contains no preservatives, monosodium glutamate (
MSG), hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) or yeast extract.
The ingredient list is horrible and full of GMO's,
processed sugar and salt,
MSG and wasn't gluten - free or vegan!
You know... the one full of
processed ingredients and
MSG?
Now I've got here a list of other foods that often contain
MSGs, and this is not exclusive, there are many more ingredients, but these are some of the most common ones that I've noticed on the back of my healthy
processed foods that I have bought lately, or looked at in the stores and decided not to have.
That includes sunchoke, jicama, sweet potato, red potato, potato starch, potato flour, potato - derived yeast, potato - derived b - 12 supplements, «natural flavoring» in
processed foods,
MSG, Vitamin A Palmitate, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, modified food starch, enriched flour, iodized salt, maltodextrin / maltodextrose, dextrose / dextrin and ascorbyl palmitate.
The meat we raise is drug free, gluten free, minimally
processed, no
MSG and many items are nitrate and nitrite free.
MSG is approximately 78 percent free glutamic acid, the same neurotransmitter that your brain, nervous system, eyes, pancreas, and other organs use to initiate certain
processes in your body.
Information about the overuse of
MSG, transfats and other dangerous additives to extend shelf life and increase flavor - after all natural fat and healthy stuff has been removed from
processed foods - is coming out into the open.
The
processed foods often contain
MSG (monosodium glutamate) and / or aspartame, which are excitotoxins, often resulting in erratic behavior and hyperactivity.
I have been writing about the dangers of hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup,
MSG, excess sugar in
processed food and other toxins in the food supply since 1996.
Processed lunch meat can be full of additives like sodium nitrates, artificial flavors and colors, and
MSG (which can cause fatigue if you eat it regularly).

processed, packaged, or restaurant foods, you're likely eating a good amount of
MSG.
This
MSG, hydrolyzed corn protein and enriched wheat with folic acid infused one - pan meal was a staple of the 80s and my friends and I would bemoan its existence over equally
processed school lunches (obviously, I had not been taught my own food rules to cure picky eating at that point!)
Most commercial producers use a much faster high - tech
process called «rapid hydrolysis» that changes naturally occurring glutamates into «an unnatural form of glutamic acid that closely resembles
MSG» (source).
This «non-food» list would also include anything containing hydrogenated oils (peanut, soy, cottonseed, vegetable, canola, etc), anything containing
MSG, anything containing high fructose corn syrup, anything containing artificial sweeteners, and anything containing
processed grains.
Unlike the
processed canned version, it only has 10 ingredients total (including spices) and they are all real food ingredients that you can order at a grocery store (no need to contact your friendly local industrial products salesman to get the soy protein concentrate or
MSG!).
The FDA doesn't have a shining record on actually keeping us safe from dangerous foods (i.e.
MSG,
processed grains, hydrogenated oils, etc.), so a negative endorsement by the FDA often leads to further investigation on my part.
Participants of Whole30 must eliminate grains, legumes, dairy,
processed food ingredients (like
MSG and sulfites), sugar, and alcohol.

MSG on the other hand, is the isolated sodium salt of glutamic acid, which is a synthetically created compound used to enhance the flavor of
processed foods.10 Both naturally occurring glutamate and
MSG contain glutamic acid, but the compounds behave differently in the body.
Nitrites, which are potent carcinogens, are formed during spray drying, and a toxin called lysinoalanine is formed during alkaline
processing.24 Numerous artificial flavorings, particularly
MSG, are added to soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein products to mask their strong «beany» taste, and impart the flavor of meat.25
Wise again to avoid industrially
processed soy protein isolate, soy protein concentrate, textured vegetable protein and hydrolyzed vegetable protein, and other industrially
processed products, all of which contain
MSG, hexane and other toxic and carcinogenic residues.
Until we see a return of this product, we are recommending roller drum dried products as people who are sensitive to
MSG have reported to us that they can tolerate yeast that has been
processed in this way.
Free glutamic acid or
MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food
processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.
Modern soy ingredients as found in packaged and
processed food products are the most dangerous of all, including not only the plant estrogens and other risky components inherent in all soybeans, but the
MSG, other additives and carcinogenic residues that result from modern, industrial, food
processing methods.
I am shocked that the Weston A. Price Foundation has published this article about nutritional yeast, which leads one to believe, through extremely careful wording, that this is a nutrient - rich food and that there is no
processed free glutamic acid (what is commonly referred to as «
MSG») in this
processed food product.
Jack and Adrienne Samuels worked tirelessly for decades to expose the hidden
MSG /
processed free glutamic acid (an excitotoxin) in our food supply.
As a hydrolyzed [nonGMO soy] protein, liquid aminos contain plenty of
MSG produced as a residue of the hydrolyzing
process.
It says that through
processing, it «can» generate
MSG.
No added
MSG, enriched with vitamin C, sugar - free and low - fat are but a few of the tag lines used to sell
processed products.
A common example is
MSG (monosodium glutamate), a flavor enhancer often used in Chinese restaurants and also found in
processed foods.
One of the main problems is that needing to eat aggressive tasting foods means that all of that extra salt,
MSG, added
processed fats, sugars, and artificial sweeteners are playing havok with your hormones, and making you crave extra calories that your body doesn't need.
Therefore,
MSG is present in high protein
processed foods but it is not on the label because it is not technically added to the final product.
We're avoiding the artificial sweeteners and maybe the
MSG, any of the
processed food diets because the quality portion matters and we're really focusing on eating real food, and a lot of people get that by accident with the low carb.
Besides depletion of Vitamin A stores, high protein
processed foods contain potentially large amounts of
MSG in the form of protein isolates.
To make
processed vegetarian foods «taste delicious,» manufacturers load them up with
MSG and artificial flavors that imitate the taste of meat.
Large submarine sandwiches are heavy on bread (more refined carbs) and typically contain
processed - meat lunchmeat that may contain sodium nitrite and other additives like
MSG, high - fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial flavors, or artificial colors.
