Shieh is currently leading the International Institute of
Macromolecular Analysis and Nanomedicine Innovation (IMANI), which is focused on translating molecular discoveries to the clinic.
The structural
analysis guides further mutagenesis and biochemical experiments in both reconstituted systems in vitro and in primary cells, to finely analyze the mechanisms that mediate
macromolecular function, or lead to a pathological dysfunction.
We will continue to study the relationship between the 3D structure and the function of
macromolecular complexes using a combination of 3D Electron Microscopy, Cryo - Electron Tomography, single particle
analysis, correlative fluorescence microscopy, image
analysis, and needed biochemical techniques.
