I remember when the Kobo
Vox came out, it did not have Google Play, instead they tapped into the Getjar
market, as a source to get apps.
In my opinion KOBO
Vox was rushed out to
market too soon and it is very slow.
The
Vox is only available for order in the USA and Canada right now for $ 199 and should hit international
markets sometime in November.
The likes of the Kindle Fire, the Nook tablet, or the Kobo
Vox have proved beyond doubt that there does exist a
market for a low cost tablet, and we will see if Apple will indeed go ahead and produce such a device.
While putting together the guide for rooting the Kobo
Vox and installing the Android
Market a couple of days ago, I noticed a security issue with the Kobo
Vox.
Previously the
Vox used a third - party app store that included around 15,000 apps, but owners will now have access to more than 500,000 through Google's own
market.
The main reason we are carrying it in our own APP Store is because we know many tablets like the Kobo
Vox, Kindle Fire, and Pandigital Novel can't access the real Google

Vox, it's hard to know how much
market share it will be able to grab.
Kobo doesn't have the presence or
marketing prowess of Amazon or Barnes & Noble, doesn't ship with the streaming media services that you get on the other devices, and there's no benefit to buying a book on the
Vox compared to the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet.
