Points that have been earned on the
credit card but have not yet been transferred to the
Marriott Rewards Program will be lost if the
credit card is closed, so you'll want to make sure all points have transferred if you are not going to renew the
credit card.
Points don't expire in the
program as long as you're an active member in the
Marriott Rewards program, which is separate from the

I'll close with this though — Its not as good as the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) transfer
program, but, I'd say a 1 - 1 conversion of some
Marriott rewards points ups the value, when one has MR points in larger numbers (which, logically, you would if you're either churning
credit cards, or staying 75 nights a year).
