New Jersey officials are considering allowing
casinos within a few miles of Manhattan, in the
Meadowlands, Jersey City or Newark.
Newmark Grubb Knight Frank chairman Jeff Gural met with a dozen elected officials at the
Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J., Thursday to continue his push for a $ 1 billion
casino at the racetrack.
«Neither state wants to see the other take their customers,» said Jeff Gural, a real estate mogul who wants to open a
casino at his racetrack in the
Meadowlands.
Gural, the chairman of Newmark Knight Frank and the prospective operator of a
casino in New Jersey's
Meadowlands, said he was «pleased» that the state's Gaming Facility Location Board voted Wednesday to allow him to apply for a full
casino license.
«I have the
Meadowlands, so, I think there will be a
casino at the
Meadowlands eventually,» Gural said.
Gural, who owns a horseracing track at the
Meadowlands in New Jersey, wouldn't say whether or not he'd pursue plans to build a
casino there.
He is proposing a
casino at the
Meadowlands, which needs voter approval.
