Through 15 February 2018 Delta is running a promotion it's calling «Elevate Your Status» in which Medallion members can purchase Medallion Qualifying Miles and
Medallion Qualifying Segments in order to boost their Medallion status for 2018.

Medallion Qualifying Dollar (MQD) requirement can really cause issues for you... even if you will hit the
Medallion Qualification Mile (MQM) or
Medallion Qualification
Segment (MQS) requirements.
While many airlines require you to fly
segments to earn elite status
qualifying miles, with Delta you can earn
Medallion Qualification Miles when using the Platinum Delta SkyMiles ® Credit Card from American Express.
To earn status, starting with the lowest tier (silver) you need to fly at least 25,000 miles (MQMs) or 30 flight

Segments (MQSs) and make at least $ 25,000 in Eligible Purchases within that Qualification Year on your eligible Card.
A couple of important things to note is that any cash spent on the purchase of MQMs or
segments qualifies toward
Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQDs) plus the option to purchase MQMs to rollover for the next year is available (although not recommended at these prices).
After earning 125,000 MQMs (or flying 140

The third tier in the SkyMiles program is Platinum
