I can't get any from the main town nearest to where I live but can get other types so I'm looking forward to
making your
date and oat bars next Wednesday and will bring me back some
medjool dates next time I'm in the Middle East.
Medjool dates are the best as they're much sweeter and stickier so
make cooking a lot easier — these are what I use in all my recipes and you may find if you use normal
dates that the recipe doesn't work as well.

made these before...) I can't have any sugar at all, I can just about tolerate the
medjool dates but the maple syrup is definitely a no go... if I leave that out of the brownie recipe will it be a disaster?!
Hi Vicki, yes the
medjool dates will
make a big difference to the consistency of the mixture as they are naturally really soft and creamy and so easy to blend.
Made them today with tigernut flour and the
dates I happened to have were half
medjool and half deglet nour and it turned out really well; the whole family really enjoyed them The dough was great to work with without any flour for rolling out and didn't stick to anything.

made these the other day but only had Almond butter instead of Cashew, and just regular
dates instead of
Medjool ones so I feared the worst, but they came out great!!
I used brown rice flour, and instead of agave syrup I used honey, and instead of raw cacao I used cacao nibs and ground then up, I used Parnoosh
dates as opposed to
Medjool because those are what we have available and I don't know if that would
make a difference.
