mentoring young artists through MOSAIC, helping to foster a collector base to attract and strengthen the artist community, giving local artists a chance to expand their horizons through the Berlin residency
program, engaging audiences through
exhibitions and public
programs.
This group
exhibition, which included Buckman's neon hourglass, focused on abstraction in contemporary art and benefited Free Arts, an organization that provides underserved children and families with arts education and
mentoring programs.
Mentored by the Art Museum team of staff to mount a graduating
exhibition, MVS Curatorial Studies students gain valuable experience within all aspects of
exhibition planning, including: curatorial research and
exhibition logistics, installation design and coordination, critical writing in the form of a curatorial essay,
exhibition promotion, and
programming development.
In addition, exhibiting artists each receive a $ 5,000 honorarium and an accompanying
exhibition catalogue with an essay written by a participant in CUE's Art Critic
Mentoring Program.
The
exhibition will also offer dynamic
programming in the form of performances, lectures and films, along with a partnership with non-profit STOKED
Mentoring and adidas Skateboarding to provide educational workshops for the inner - city youth of L.A.
The
exhibition will also feature works by a number of artists represented and
mentored by the Art Centers, a
program of the Exceptional Children's Foundation.
The
exhibition is the outcome of the second annual Distinguished Alumni Peer
Mentoring Program.
