There are a few hundred
microlenders throughout the United States and while they
often charge slightly higher interest rates for loans than banks, they've helped 250,000 - 300,000 small businesses each year and lent more than $ 2 billion nationwide during the past 10 years, according to the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), the trade association for
microlenders.
