milk paint can last almost indefinitely if sealed properly.
Milk paint can be tricky to make look good but you definitely hit it.
Once dry,
milk paint can be protected with virtually any topcoat whether natural or acrylic / urethane.
Based on what I've read,
milk paint can sometimes have a mind of its own — chipping and flaking wherever it sees fit.
Reminding me that I don't know everything and no matter how much experience I have with
milk paint it can still totally backfire on me.

I usually like to buy pieces that are wood, so I have a «clean slate» so to speak, but black
can look almost like dark wood when it peeks under a coat of distressed

I'm amazed by the different looks one
can achieve with
milk paint and that I
can easily
paint indoors in the cold Michigan winters.
I've been watching all of the
milk paint tutorials so that I
can try it.
Did you have to sand all the finish off before
painting or
can you just
paint over it with the
milk paint?
You
can leave out the bonding agent like I did for the chairs but keep in mind not all furniture will chip with
milk paint.
Probably use
milk paint so it
can have some beautiful chippy goodness... Maybe Miss Mustard Seed's ironstone or grain sack.
I
can find the color in «Chalk
paint» but would prefer
milk paint.
This is just an idea, but you
can also use a vintage enamel
milk jug, some French Made
painted jars or some Ikea vases for fresh flowers.
You
can see the spots where the wax resisted the
milk paint.
And, as you know because you have posted on the sublime beauty of lime, this causes a chalky variation in the texture of the
paint that is beautiful - OR
milk paint has lime but is a little more watery so you
can get more of a vintage finish....

Milk paint drys very quickly, especially with such a skim coat as stenciling, so it was then off to putting sand - paper to the wood which
can be pretty darn scary when you've just stenciled a pretty design!
I would love to know more about the black
painted milk can and cart..

milk paint??
if hemp oil
can be a finishing product over
milk paint....
The powder all over, the mixing, the bits that just won't mix, the bumpy
paint, the completely unpredictable way it sticks to some areas and not others (even after using
milk paint primer), the way its flaked up in random pieces larger than
can be considered attractive «patina,» even after waxing, its short shelf life... The experience (disclaimer — I did not use the Miss Mustard Seed brand) really drove home how lucky I was that acrylics were invented!
I can't wait to see what your secretary looks like with a couple of coats of Miss Mustard Seed's
milk paint!

I have 2 old
milk cans that are
painted and I want them rustic with no
paint left on them.
Since now they are past their prime, the colors witnessed that Sunday were more muted, and my mind immediately paralleled them to Mustard, Barn and Salem Red, and Bayberry (you
can tell Old Fashioned
Milk Paint is always on my mind) and how I could translate them to the little desk I was
painting.
And clear ones that I see every time I visit
can even be spray
painted white to look like
milk glass.
