mindful walking, doing something repetitive like knitting, flowing through asana — really anything that quiets the mind for you.
Do things that you can fully participate in — sports, dancing, concentration

For a cultural approach, the Hawaiian
Meditation presents a
mindful approach that will mentally
walk guests through Maui «s serene settings with focus on posture and breathing to help heighten awareness and quiet the mind.
Each session consisted of about 2 h of regular MBCT / MBSR training (body scan, sitting with the breath, breathing space, seeing and hearing
meditation,
mindful walking, and yoga).
You will experience the foundations of mindfulness (Vipassana)
meditation, learn to notice & recognize emotions, thoughts, & bodily sensations as they arise, experience the pleasure of
mindful eating, take a stroll through nature on a
mindful walk, hear from
mindful experts, & become more centered.
Centering exercises or
mindful pause exercises, emotional awareness
meditation and even long
walks in nature are great ways to learn to cultivate a quiet and open receptivity to the world.
We can think of mindfulness practices (
meditation, yoga,
mindful walking) as ways of cultivating this capacity.
Modifications from MBSR include: briefer
meditation periods; shorter weekly sessions; emphasis on seated
meditations rather than
mindful movements or
walking meditation (due to physical limitations of participants); and no daylong retreat.
