This is a subject of great importance, because, in
most previous studies, the transmission of the pathologic misfolded
aggregates did not induce the disease phenotype, raising a debate about whether seeding of protein misfolding is equivalent to disease transmission by infectious proteinaceous agents (Guest et al., 2011; Schmidt et al., 2012; Fernández - Borges et al., 2013; Piccardo et al., 2013; Walsh and Selkoe, 2016).
