I like Jonah Hill in both his goofball
movies like «
Superbad» and in «Moneyball,» where, playing a baseball stats whiz - kid, he proved he could act in something that didn't require the display of bodily functions.
Seth Rogen co-wrote and takes a funny supporting role in Greg Mottola's
Superbad, though the
movie is focused on younger characters, a trio of high school boys and their efforts to find their place in the world.
In the tradition of such end - of - class
movies,
Superbad chronicles Hill and Cera's epic misadventures in securing alcohol for a raucous party where they hope to finally score with their respective crushes.
The types of performances he gives in
movies like 21 Jump Street (along with 22 Jump Street on Friday, which is just as good, trust me there), Funny People, Knocked Up, and
Superbad are tremendous, but they're very different than what he's shown us in Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street.
It does help that
Superbad asks them to play the roles they are best at, but the
movie takes these caricatures and inject so much life into them.
One of the reasons for my high hopes was because wonder twins, Judd Apatow (production) and Seth Rogen (screenplay), activated once more to put together this
movie that combines the premise of My Bodyguard with the updated attitude of
Superbad.

Superbad, is just annoying here) or Mark Strong, even though he does at one point or another in the film.

movie of the bunch), Hellboy, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Cloverfield.
Instead of being content with its position as the funniest
movie I can remember seeing,
Superbad has to go and turn in a loony coda, taking all kinds of shortcuts with character development, just so it can have its sentimental, significant ending.
Now in the era of very incisive raunchy comedies like Borat and
Superbad, just injecting gross moments into a
movie doesn't cut it anymore.
I'm not sure how important the flavor is to
Superbad «s success, since it's still a funny
movie.
