It has two of Nintendo's proprietary connectors in place of the traditional
NES controller ports — the same connectors you can find at the bottom of Wii Remote, thus allowing you to use any Wii Classic Controllers with the console, or even use the bundled NES pad as a Classic Controller with your Wii or Wii U instead.

Put the Wii mote + nunchuck almost killed me, i had a white wii so i could play brawl, with GC
controller, but then it died so i bough a black one but it did not have GC
controller ports so i have had to play with classic
controller, i guess i will have to get used to the pro
controller, or just mod my wii mote, so that i can use my GC
controller as a classic
controller, works fine with a
NES controller, so il perhaps give it a try.

controller can be plugged into the Wiimote - it acts as a Wii classic
controller with less buttons and no analog - this is the same
port the Wii Nunchuk uses - the Nunchuk transfers a fair amount of data to the Wiimote itself - the cord length between Wiimote / Nunchuk was due to the data from the gyro and the buttons - the cable itself has 4 leads inside:
Those wanting to use original
controllers and accessories are also able to do so, as the system contains
controller ports for the
NES, SNES and Genesis on the sides.
Nyko's Miniboss features the same button layout as the
NES Classic Edition's
controller, but includes a wireless adapter that plugs into one of the two
ports on the front of the console.
The system includes one wireless bluetooth
controller, but you can use your original
NES, SNES and Genesis (and now Master System with the latest update)
controllers via
ports on both sides of the system.
The
controllers, rather than connecting via scaled - down SNES
controller ports, in fact have the same connector as the
NES Mini and connect to
ports located behind the fake SNES ones.

NES Classic Edition uses special
controller ports like those found on the Wii remote, so your old Zapper wouldn't plug into it anyway.
