Nintendo appear to be aware that it is a contentious issue, arguably hiding this
information behind the release of further details about their online service and the
NES games announcement.
Nintendo revealed more
information about Nintendo Switch Online, including pricing, Save Data Cloud backup and additional details about the classic
NES games subscribers will be able to play when it launches in September.
Now that there's so much
information out there about classic
NES games and their Famicom counterparts, it's easy to see that, for instance, Nintendo was able to animate the water on the overworld map in the Japanese version of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link while it's static in the international versions.
At one point, a sequel was planned for the SNES, which could have really been something special given the groundwork laid by the
NES game, but it was canceled with no further
information announced.
