did not impact the proportion of infants discharged on breastmilk.
They went over endless possibilities: a lack of milk (my colostrum was enough for him the first days after birth), the fact that my milk didn't come in until he was already in the
NICU, because of blood type incompatibility, where my blood type conflicted with his during pregnancy, though it was not likely.

do not advocate that all homebirth practices follow our lead, but we argue against the statement that NICUs are sustained by the admissions of home born babies and rather, hospital births and their subsequent
NICU admissions need further investigation.
Now all of that milk goes to the home, it's almost like a drug in California we
do require physician prescription and the same quality and the same way that processing that we clean the milk for the
NICU babies, we also
do that for the older child in the mature milk.
The
NICU staff were on hand and
did what they needed to
do and gave me a few more precious moments before she was taken upstairs to be hooked up to oxygen and a feeding tube.
JonaRose Feinberg: Well, you know I don't encourage putting the babies on a schedule, altough I would say the babies to come home from or stay in the
NICU have already been put on a feeding schedule in the
NICU, and if they are already on one then it's not a bad thing to keep them on that schedule if it's working for you but mostly I don't encourage scheduling.
