For some unknown (but miraculously delicious) reason, I am
not allergic to almonds, despite the fact that I am deathly allergic to the
other tree nuts.
OAS is distinct from
other major food allergies of concern, such as those to
tree nut storage proteins which are
not inactivated by heat, that may lead to severe and potentially fatal responses, including anaphylaxis.

not really sure... the only sub that might come close is blanched almonds, if you're
not allergic to
other tree nuts.
Someone who is allergic to
tree nuts can
not just experiment with
other tree nuts, unless they've been given the «all clear» from their allergist.
If you're out of almonds, don't like them, and
not allergic to
other nuts, feel free to sub in another
tree nut like walnuts, pecans, or cashews and simply turn those into a
nut meal first.
While her intended point of highlighting hidden ingredients in foods that may cause allergies was important, she needs to realize that people with peanut allergies may very well
not be allergic to
other nuts, known as «
tree»
nuts.
Some children may have
tree nut and peanut allergies in addition to a sesame allergy, while
others will
not.
Other common food allergens (most of which your baby won't yet have on his menu) include eggs, peanuts, soy, wheat,
tree nuts, fish, and shellfish.
This finding provides evidence that BAT testing can reduce the need for food challenges
not only for peanut, but also for
tree nut, fish, shellfish, and sesame and perhaps for
other foods.
Anyone have advice, suggestions or companies with
other tree nuts that are
not processed with the offending items?
Although some
nuts may be well tolerated,
others may
not be, so it's best to avoid all
tree nuts at first and reintroduce one at a time carefully noting reactions.

I have 2 daughters, both of whom have food allergies; specifically to all
tree nuts, peanuts (but
not other legumes), sesame, and sunflower seeds.
Here's the list: Coffee, Chocolate (both for caffeine), Alcohol (c» mon, you don't want to give your baby a buzz), Broccoli (and
other «gassy foods» like beans, couliflower, etc.), Spicy Foods (like jalapenos and so on; incidentally
not all babies have a problem so just exclude if fussiness seems to occur), Garlic (also a taste issue for baby possibly), Fish (same as during pregnancy, mercury happens), Citrus (apparently can irritate their new little gastrointestinal system), Peppermint and Parsley (used to halt milk supply so use sparingly), Peanuts /
Tree Nuts (high - allergen food passes to baby), Corn (high allergen), Shellfish (high allergen), Egg (possibly egg white allergen), Soy (food allergen), Wheat (especially if mom or dad is allergic), and of course Milk and Dairy (for, you guessed it, food allergen).
Peanuts aren't a
tree nut, like
other nutty favorites such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews, and Brazil
nuts.
«Plant Lectins», Dr William Rawls argues that «anyone with any sort of digestive issue should be paying close attention to lectins since they're found in so many foods» then he lists the problematic ones to be Grains, Beans / legumes, especially soybeans, kidney beans, black beans, peanuts,
Tree nuts, such as almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews, and pistachios concluding that «Fish, eggs, and poultry don't contain lectins or
other similarly damaging substances, so they're the best source of protein.»
