The proposed «speculation» tax will apply to Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley communities on the B.C. mainland; the Victoria and
Nanaimo regional districts on Vancouver Island; and the resort communities of Kelowna and West Kelowna, where many neighbouring Albertans own vacation homes.
New areas affected by the FBT after Feb. 21 include the Victoria
regional district, Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley
Regional District,
Nanaimo Regional District and the Central Okanagan
Regional District, as well as a speculator's tax that is being introduced this fall on all property owned by foreign and domestic entities that do not pay taxes in B.C.
