A bloody
discharge may
indicate serious lung problems and, unless the blood is obviously from a superficial wound, bloody
nasal discharge requires immediate veterinary attention.
Development of more severe signs, including fever, purulent
nasal discharge, depression, loss of appetite, and a productive cough, especially in puppies,
indicates a complicating systemic infection such as bronchopneumonia.
