Nemesis System is something every
developer should look into (and probably will).
Shadow of Mordor expands the lore of the Lord of the Rings books in a respectful and great way and the
Nemesis system is something that many
developers should copy.
Meanwhile, Mordor
developers Monolith Studios spent that time refining what made the first game great: The personal journey - defining
Nemesis System (and absolute necessary and completely uncontroversial loot crates).
Along with Troy Baker, the
developers will explain the gameplay, story, the
Nemesis System, and more as the game reaches its release date of October 7.
I then spent the afternoon watching three of the
developer sessions in the EGX theatre, first up was Shadow Of War, with Bob Roberts from
developer Monolith taking to the stage to talk through the improved
Nemesis system and Ellie from Monolith showing us how good she is at playing it!
The
Nemesis System is the first step towards another evolution in gaming and I have no doubt that it will inspire other
developers to make games which will craft themselves to the individual player.
There will inevitably be a sequel, and I can't wait to see how the
developers move forward with the
Nemesis system.
Leaked documents from Monolith Productions show that the Washington - based
developer has been quietly trying an improved
Nemesis System that uses techniques «inspired by the NSA» to track down the player in the real world and murder them.
Although it doesn't appear the
developer found a satisfying way to balance the player's omnipotence and the
Nemesis System's need to slap you around a bit.
When Middle - Earth: Shadow of Mordor was announced,
developer Monolith Productions proudly showed off its patented
Nemesis System, an element sure to make the jump to Shadow of War.
The
developer says the reason behind the change is that the additional purchases can take away from the game's
Nemesis System, where players can fight and capture different level Orcs according to a hierarchy.
