In an article in the November 1990 issue of BREASTFEEDING ABSTRACTS, Kathi Kemper, MD, MPH, suggests that prolonged hospitalization,
phototherapy, and the interruption of breastfeeding may be unnecessary and even harmful for the mother and for the infant with normal
neonatal jaundice.
