I made a promise to myself a few years ago when I left the public
librarianship field that I will always strive to help both students and teachers use
new and innovative methods in both literacy and technology standards.
If, as Randy Scott puts it, comics «can help
librarianship as a whole break some
new ground in terms of proactive information handling», it is because they are examples of multimedia that defy previous forms of categorization and description, both as messages (that which could also be described as «content») and as publications (that which could also be described as «medium», «form», «material support», etc.).
The
New Jersey Association of School Librarians advocates for high standards for
librarianship and library media programs in the public, private and parochial schools, in the State of
New Jersey, to ensure that students and staff become effective users of information.

The Impact Award is given to a non-NHSLMA member who has made a significant contribution to the promotion of school
librarianship in the State of
New Hampshire.
We advocate for high standards for
librarianship and library media programs in the public, private and parochial schools in
New Jersey to inspire excellence in school
librarianship and learning.
Articles address the integration of theory and practice in school
librarianship and
new developments in education, learning theory, and relevant disciplines.
In my area of specialty, foreign, comparative, and international law
librarianship, we've been fortunate to have a great mentor of
new FCIL librarians, Dan Wade at Yale.
In my latest The Tao of Law
Librarianship column on LLRX.com, I talk about how using RSS feeds for
new book titles is making my job more efficient, and I call for more publishers to take this on.
The conference is an exciting opportunity to explore and learn about emerging issues in law
librarianship, to acquire the tools for building both hard and soft skills, and to meet with vendors about their
new products and the improvements of existing ones.
