When I was asked to write an
article for
Next Wave's March 2001
feature on underrepresented minorities in science, I enthusiastically accepted the invitation because I thought it might represent an opportunity to bring key issues to the forefront pertaining to the plight of students of color in science and engineering.
Next Wave

In the course of researching and writing the
