at 55 miles an hour)- Spacious trunk - Great leg room for rear seats - Just enough power to accelerate quickly and merge on to the highways / freeways - Amazing Brakes - Sports, ECO and
Normal Mode (For those who do not know, once switched to SPORTS
mode, the car's steering becomes stiff as well as the engine along with the help of transmission helps you accelerate the car faster, you actually feel like driving a sports car.
Back in our chase scenario, when you've escaped your manic tailgater and are driving
at a regular speed again, the car knows to set everything back to
Normal or Comfort
mode again.
Normal mode gives the steering a heavy feel
at low speeds, and a lighter feel
at speed, almost as if the computer got the information backwards.
The Elantra GT has
at least one mechanical feature that is unique, too: Driver Selectable Steering, via a button that calls up Comfort,
Normal or Sport

I did about half of my testing in either
mode and found
normal to be great for darting through traffic, passing, and maintaining a steady highway speed and Eco to be good for squeezing a few extra miles per kilowatt out of the battery
at neighborhood, city, and parking - lot speeds.
Driving along
at 20 mph and switching between the
normal and Eco
modes is like day and night; you can really feel the vehicle resist speed when going into Eco and then almost lurch forward as it rolls more freely and accelerates more readily in
