Nuvaring as a birth control.
Since the time I was eighteen, I had been using
the Nuvaring as birth control — it acts essentially in the same way as the pill, except that it is administered directly into the vagina once a month and therefore utilizes lower levels of hormones.

NuvaRing does not protect against HIV infection (AIDS) or other sexually transmitted infections.
Until you know the results of your pregnancy test, you should use an extra method of
birth control, such
as male condoms with spermicide, until the new
NuvaRing has been in place for 7 days in a row.
While using
NuvaRing, you should not use certain female barrier contraceptive methods such
as a vaginal diaphragm, cervical cap or female condom
as your back - up method of
birth control because
NuvaRing may interfere with the correct placement and position of a diaphragm, cervical cap or female condom.
The
birth control patch (known by its brand name, Ortho Evra) needs to be changed weekly, while the vaginal ring (known
as NuvaRing) needs to be changed once a month.
Other current methods of
birth control, such
as the
NuvaRing, contains 11.7 mg of a progesterone and 2.7 mg of an estrogen; ingestion of this product rarely reaches the 1 mg / kg toxic levels.
NuvaRing is a type of
birth control that is inserted into the body,
as opposed to taking it orally.
