ochre that appear to have been engraved — the oldest such abstract art in the world — archaeologists have found tool kits that included abalone shells used as containers to
mix ochre with crushed bone, charcoal, quartz and other material to make paint.
The light gold was achieved by

So they received a wash of the ultramarine and burnt umber then some of the
mixed purples and quite strong yellow
ochre was dropped in.
For instance, I might
mix up two different combinations of red earth and yellow
ochre, one more reddish and the other more yellowish.
Then I
mixed a basic skin color of Cadmium Red Light, Yellow
Ochre and Titanium White.
Mix 50 % Ultramarine Blue plus 50 % Permanent Rose plus a little Yellow
Ochre to grey things down a touch.
For starters, I blocked in the wooden handle with a
mix of yellow
ochre and white, with a touch of blue added where the handle shape meets the blade.
Next, the flower pots have been added, using various
mixes of burnt sienna, yellow
ochre, brilliant red and the white.

And I use alkyd, which takes about two days to dry, and once it's dry, I then take off the little rubber bumps, which create those little holes with various kinds of white, which is

My palette contains a warm and cool of each primary, plus four modifiers: Yellow
Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Blue - Violet and Phthalo Yellow - Green... just
mix as I go for each painting.
