The
Open Science Conference is an international and interdisciplinary
meeting that brings together scientists of all ages from around the world with interests in Antarctica and the southern ocean.
In this role, Christian regularly participated in
science - policy
meetings with the European Commission (e.g. initiative on «
Open science 2030») and the European Parliament (e.g. initiative «European Research Area — a Maastricht for Research»).
I was especially impressed by the enthusiasm for
science shown by the
meeting participants, Nobel laureates and young scientists alike but I will also forever remember the
open - mindedness and curiosity — without them a photo project like this wouldn't have been possible!
Meeting Karin Gurtner, the founder and principal educator of art of motion training in movement,
opened a whole new world of possibilities and gave her a more contemporary
science - based understanding of the body's interconnectedness.
My

In my
opening comments at the
meeting, I stressed the need to expand the discussion from the physical and environmental
sciences into disciplines ranging from sociology to history, philosophy to the arts.
I've been to three author
meetings so far, and I've found that there is a culture of very
open and critical discussion of the
science, with no top - down interference whatsoever.
In an
open meeting chaired by Dr. Ralph J. Cicerone, President of the US National Academy of Sciences, I asked members of the Space
