To determine whether a
short, relatively inexpensive family - based training program could generate improvements, Neville and colleagues recruited 141 3 - to 5 - year olds in
Oregon who were in Head Start — a preschool program for children whose families live at or below the poverty
line — and randomly divided them into three groups.
