Jeffrey Mailman has not raised nearly as much money as
other candidates in the
race for District 4, which covers a large swath of Manhattan's east side, but he has raised the most from real estate workers at companies
including Douglas Elliman, and Warburg Realty.
Michael Tolkin, a 32 - year - old tech entrepreneur who is among over a dozen long - shot
candidates running to unseat New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, appears to have outspent every
other contender
in the
race,
including the mayor, with a $ 5 million
in - kind contribution to his own campaign.
Voters
in North Brooklyn can also cast ballots on who the Democratic nominee will be
in the crowded Brooklyn district attorney
race, where Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez will run against a host of
other candidates including former prosecutor Anne Swern.
Other declared
candidates in the
race include City Councilman Glenn A. Choolokian, a Democrat, along with Republicans John G. Accardo and Jim J. Szwedo.
Funiciello, who also isn't interested
in running for any
other office next year —
including governor — said the Greens will definitely have a
candidate running
in NY - 21
race, and most likely will see a primary battle for the line.
Coffey has significantly outspent his Democratic challengers
in the
race so far, shelling out $ 824,000 on campaign items
including TV ads and various political consulting firms
in both New York and Washington, D.C.. That's four times more than the average spent by the
other candidates.
Mr. Kellner won't have the field to himself, however, and there are a number of
other candidates in the
race,
including attorney Benjamin Kallos and adjunct professor Hill Krishnan, who is notable for his impeccable dance moves.
Four
other candidates are
in the
race for the seat,
including Democrat David Gordon; as well as Republicans Claudia Tenney, Steve Wells, Aaron Price, and George Phillips.
Other candidates who have looked at the
race previously, and may do so again,
include Joyce Johnson, whom the New York Times endorsed; Assemblyman Keith Wright, the chairman of the Manhattan Democratic organization, who is close to Rangel and could be a leading
candidate to replace him should Rangel step down or not seek re-election, as is often rumored to be the case; Adriano Espaillat, a newly elected state senator who could appeal to the growing Hispanic population
in the district, depending on what happens with redistricting; and Adam Clayton Powell IV, the former assemblyman and the son of the legendary congressman whom Rangel unseated 40 years ago, who has run and lost against Rangel twice
in the past.
Other declared
candidates in the
race include Elaine DiMasi, a former Brookhaven National Lab physicist, and bartender Brendon Henry.
Others include Bill and Hillary Clinton, former New York governor George Pataki, Rep. Anthony Weiner, and the
candidates from this year's congressional
race in New York's 23rd district Dede Scozzafava and Doug Hoffman.
Other declared contenders
include former Hallam parliamentary
candidate, Oliver Coppard and former aid worker, Mike Buckley, who came third
in the
race to succeed David Blunkett for the seat back
in 2014.
