I wanted to be diff and use something
other than oats or breadcrumbs to bind them, so I used this organic sprouted multigrain flakes cereal that I've been adoring lately (especially with ice cold unsweetened vanilla almond milk).
This led me to a search for a granola whose main ingredient was something
other than oats — a search that ended with a no - grain granola recipe from Elana Amsterdam.
I'm not supposed to have any grains (
other than oats), so that has made baking very difficult.
Other than the oats, this recipe is gluten - free.

Because these

than others, they contain much more fiber as well as protein per serving.
Other than that I have to say that Quaker quick cooking
oats are a must for any baker's kitchen.
This gives steel cut
oats a wildly different texture
than other forms, and completely avoids the «slimy oatmeal» situation that some of us are all to familiar with.
We selected it for high protein; our protein is 3 to 4 % higher
than other oats, usually near 20 % protein.
But in my own cooking I try and use the most nutritious ingredients and almonds and
oats have a great nutritional profile, especially compared to refined white flour which doesn't give you much
other than energy.
If you substitute almond, rice, or
other milk you may need less milk or more
oats to get the texture you want since coconut milk tends to be pretty thick and we like it that way rather
than runny

oats.
In fact, brown rice contains more phytic acid
than any
other grain, even

oats and brown rice, pseudo grains like quinoa, nuts like cashews and almonds (not peanuts, which are legumes), plus all fruits and vegetables have protein.
I'm adding things like gluten - free
oats immediately after runs for recovery, but
other than that, keeping strict paleo.
And that something is the filling mixture of
