overused phrases, and open with an unclear statement that «tells» the employer what the job seeker is looking for in a job — the old - school «to utilize my
skills and experience.»
In a resume summary statement, avoid
skills that are commonplace (for example, avoid mentioning Microsoft Office), or
overused words (such as «multitasker» or «team player»).
They have been created in cookie - cutter fashion, filled with
overused words and phrases, are not aligned with the employer's needs and open with a vague statement that «tells» the employer what they are looking for...» to utilize my
skills and experience...» (insert yawn.)
That means avoiding
overused words and phrases like «communication
skills» which appear on practically every application a recruiter comes across.
In other
words, cut out the «team player,» «excellent communication / written
skills,» and all those other
overused terms and phrases that find their way into so many resumes.
