Regardless of a 10 or a CM, it wouldn't be much a gamble to see if he will finally have an important role to play for this team since we can safe to say aren't going to win the League this season and in light that Ozil will be sold in January.
Ozil was very ineffective in that no10 role, he doesn't get in between the lines, hes a good passer but he doesn't go past players at will and hes very 1 footed, he doesn't score enough goals to be a no10 in a League or CL winning team, i think we need either Cazorla or maybe Sanchez or even Chamberlain in that role in seasons to come, Ozil will have to play wide coming in the way Messi did for Barca this season
Although Alex Iwobi is a first team player, Wenger played him to see how he could operate in Ozil's role, and Le Prof explained why.
Ozil plays the number 10 role which must not only contribute assists, but also goals and that is where i have a serious problem with Ozil, a number 10 must be a serious goal threat and ozil is not, creating goals or chances for team mates is great but what would be greater is to get the goal average total in the tOzil plays the number 10 role which must not only contribute assists, but also goals and that is where i have a serious problem with Ozil, a number 10 must be a serious goal threat and ozil is not, creating goals or chances for team mates is great but what would be greater is to get the goal average total in the tOzil, a number 10 must be a serious goal threat and ozil is not, creating goals or chances for team mates is great but what would be greater is to get the goal average total in the tozil is not, creating goals or chances for team mates is great but what would be greater is to get the goal average total in the teens

Maybe the introduction of Santi Cazorla to the Arsenal team will at least mean that our under fire German international Mesut Ozil will play in his favoured number 10 role and that he will start to prove his ever increasing band of doubters wrong.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits

I will prefer to have la - coq, Elneny - santi or Ozil in that central midfield rozil combination will struggle against teams that presses because they do nt have the ability to get out of intense pressure coming from teams that presses... Wenger put ozil on the wing for his development one thing i do nt get is how the fans do nt see that Wenger done the same process with Wilshere, I remember when Monreal was caught out at the back post from a set piece and ozil did nt cover he just jogged abit n let monreal get beat, that would be video evidence for Ozil to learn and work on his duty to defend instead of giving him Candy like a baby n letting him be lazy in the middle not tracking back for the team its a learning process im 100 % Wenger knows ozils best position is in the centre he followed him since Shalke its obvious but Wenger develops players into world class after seeing Ozil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the midozil on the wing for his development one thing i do nt get is how the fans do nt see that Wenger done the same process with Wilshere, I remember when Monreal was caught out at the back post from a set piece and ozil did nt cover he just jogged abit n let monreal get beat, that would be video evidence for Ozil to learn and work on his duty to defend instead of giving him Candy like a baby n letting him be lazy in the middle not tracking back for the team its a learning process im 100 % Wenger knows ozils best position is in the centre he followed him since Shalke its obvious but Wenger develops players into world class after seeing Ozil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the midozil did nt cover he just jogged abit n let monreal get beat, that would be video evidence for Ozil to learn and work on his duty to defend instead of giving him Candy like a baby n letting him be lazy in the middle not tracking back for the team its a learning process im 100 % Wenger knows ozils best position is in the centre he followed him since Shalke its obvious but Wenger develops players into world class after seeing Ozil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the midOzil to learn and work on his duty to defend instead of giving him Candy like a baby n letting him be lazy in the middle not tracking back for the team its a learning process im 100 % Wenger knows ozils best position is in the centre he followed him since Shalke its obvious but Wenger develops players into world class after seeing Ozil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the midOzil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the middle.
With Ozil only performing well in the CAM role and his mega price tag, I don't know where else Wilshere will get regular team football if not for injuries of Ramsey or Ozil.
Aaron Ramsey also makes the team and I can only assume he will play out wide as Ozil will be in his usual number 10 role.
Ozil played in the middle with a free role allows our team to move faster and acqually creates more chances if you closely follow the game.
NOW all that said is he better the 80 % of the players in England YES but so I would never say he a crap or is just rubbish just not the player Arsenal need to move forward to build a title wining team with Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey and even Podolski that can al play in that attacking mid role he.
I know we cant win EPL with this team but I am very excited to see Sanchez on left, Giroud on CF, Lacazette on right, Ozil on CAM role and Santi in CM role.
Finally, if Wenger really cares that Arsenal go to the next level with Lacazette in the striker's role he will need to surround him with the proper kinds of players, those who compliment his skills and give him a legitimate chance to lead the line... if they can spread the opposing teams back line with Sanchez on the left and someone of consequence on the right (must purchase this individual), this would likely create some space for Ozil in the middle of the pitch... having 3 players who can not only create their own opportunities, but provide assists and make well - timed runs, could bring some much - needed directness back into our ticky - tack approach of late... unfortunately instead of making the tough decisions and spending the supporters money in the right places, we instead have wasted so much time bashing our heads against the same brick wall over and over again and expecting different results..
This is a side that brings the two best playmakers in the team Carzola and Ozil to share the CAM role.
Simple, Aubamayang will replace Theo Walcott in the team playing from the right side of the attack maximizing his pace while Henrikh Mkhitaryan operates from the left side of the attack and Lacazette in the middle; Ozil the number 10 role, the play maker.
I am a ozil hater and think the team can do far better without oxil, I would like to add ozil and Ramsey must not play together, both have good attributes, Ramsey normally gets into the box from a far deeper role than ozil, but lack the defensive discipline needed In this high tempo game, ozil can provide opportunities to score, but hides from the work load in getting into, defensive cover when the midfield goes beyond him and pressing the oppositioIn this high tempo game, ozil can provide opportunities to score, but hides from the work load in getting into, defensive cover when the midfield goes beyond him and pressing the oppositioin getting into, defensive cover when the midfield goes beyond him and pressing the opposition.
I thought we've largely discussed Ozil's best position in the team, HE SHOULD PLAY JUST BEHIND THE STRICKER with a free role to interchange with the other front tree players therefore keeping the defenders guessing and BANG!!!
Arsenal was in red hot form october 2016 and definitely the team to beat with Ozil starting to score, Alexis flourishing in the central role and Walcott finally looking a player we hoped he would be.
Ozil has had the luxury of playing alongside lots of excellent players for Real and Germany, players that because of they're level of quality and roles in the team, can often make up for his own shortcomings in the game and he's given quite a bit of autonomy to do what he wants, if and when he wants in a game which isn't as rough and tumble as the premiership.
I understand what your saying but Ozil is no Bergkamp he doesn't have the aggression strength and nasty streak that Dennis had and he doesn't obviously have the finishing ability of Dennis in the 10 role Ozil is a nice tidy player who coasts through games and has great vision and an eye for a pass but there isn't much else to his game in my opinion defensively he is really poor although our team as a whole collectively are at times.
The problem stems with other in - form players also vying for roles also however, with Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Alex Iwobi already having stamped their foot down on first - team roles.
Welbeck will now have to vie with a number of rivals for first - team football, with both Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud in top form battling for a centre - forward role, as well as Theo Walcott, Lucas Perez, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain vying for the three remaining attacking roles.
Alexis showed his true character in the loss to Liverpool in my opinion, and Mesut Ozil has got way too comfortable with his first - team role, leaving us with two top players, who are not performing as desired.
Team News & Possible Lineups: Arsenal are expected to start with Olivier Giroud upfront with Ozil, Ramsey and Sanches playing in attacking roles.
Team News & Possible Lineups: Wenger is likely to stick with his trusted 4 -2-3-1 system where Sanchez is set to start upfront while Ozil, Iwobi and Walcott to play in attacking roles ahead of Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla.
