In this study, Horney and colleagues focused on
PAHs, which are a product of combustion
from human activities such as petroleum consumption in transportation or natural processes such as wildfires.
The parent compounds involved in this research are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or
PAHs, formed naturally as the result of almost any type of combustion,
from a wood stove to an automobile engine, cigarette or a coal - fired power plant.
Fisherfolk also hope to measure levels of
PAHs in the seafood they were unable to sell so they can claim compensation

Becker used a mass spectrometer to analyse the
PAHs in several samples of Antarctic ice, including some
from the site where the meteorite was found.
