PII within MVII to track vehicles entering the United States from other countries.
It is vitally important that DOT not only protect this information, but ensure that individuals be able to appropriately control the collection, use and sharing of their own
PII within DOT systems.
PHMSA uses
PII within HMIS to contact individuals to fulfill requests and meet regulatory requirements.
FHWA uses
PII within UPACS to identify user access to systems, set access permissions, monitor access, and contact users with questions and concerns.
The PII within DIN SAR is also collected and maintained as required by FAA Order 8100.8, Designee Management Handbook, as amended.

PII is entered into the OASIS system manually via template (screen)
within the system, by a flight service station specialist (FAA employee).

within the Central Contractor Registration (CCR system), and DOT's Core Accounting System, DEPLHI.
NHTSA personnel and contractors use
PII about individual car buyers / lessees and sole proprietor salvage auctions and disposal facilities to: (1) determine if individual transactions satisfy CARS program requirements; (2) send information about eligible transactions to a DOT financial management system to process vouchers and cause dealers to be paid by DOT / NHTSA for eligible transactions; (3) compare dealer - entered information in the CARS Database System to purchaser and transactional information already
within the system to ensure compliance with program requirements and for audit purposes; (4) confirm proper disposal of trade - in vehicles; and (5) prevent, identify, and investigate program violations and fraud.
PII contained

MVII collects
PII in order to manage the motor vehicle importation process, ensuring that motor vehicles that were not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS are determined eligible for importation by NHTSA, and are imported by an RI or by a person who has a contract with an RI to bring the vehicle into compliance with all applicable FMVSS
within 120 days of entry.
