I often just stopped and stared - that vertical presence is often key in establishing the real sense of a world and repelling the feeling that I'm just running around in a series of large empty boxes with a sky - textured ceiling and varying wallpaper (an endemic problem to N64 /
PS2 era games).
I also agree about
the PS2 era games (not all were good though) I would love to see The Wrath of Cortex get remastered.
Capcom has been remastering
PS2 era games left and right so I'm leaning towards it being an accurate rumor.
The graphics, although looking like
a PS2 era game, are clean and crisp and really stand out with the cuteness of the characters.
Not exact matches
Despite some clunkiness in the way the
game generally controls outside of combat (it feels like a throwback to the
PS2 era Silent Hill
games), fighting ghosts is as fluid and fun as ever.
This remake of Yakuza 2 brings the
PS2 game into a new
era.
Seems to me Dynasty Warriors best
games were
ps2 era.
They most likely made the models for the 3DS
game with a higher polycount and higher res textures when they made the
game, just like other companies have done since the
PS2 era (SquareEnix for example).
While some derided the
game's
PS2 -
era graphics, clunky gameplay, and weird design choices, others heaped praise onto the piece, loving it for it's obvious attention to detail, strong storyline, and immense respect towards all things Twin Peaks.
While I haven't picked up an Atelier
game since the
PS2 era, I have considered picking up one of the newer PS3 / PS4 entries from time to time and considered that all the art looks very cutesy and samey.

It was an A +
game in the
PS2 era and manages to still be one by today's standards.
Those are two great
games from the
PS2 era that didn't get as much attention but they were incredible.
I suppose it would be too much to ask for them to also ditch the
PS2 era animations for a portable
game when they couldn't even do that for their past two full console ones, but hey you do get to chose which character you play as here that's more customization than «Socom» 4 offered so maybe there is hope for the
game..?
Shadow of the Colossus - seen here compared on
PS2 and in its PS3 HD incarnation - is one of the most technologically advanced
games of the Gen2
era, and built very much around the balance and limits of the
PS2 architecture.
It preserves the charm of old - school,
PS2 -
era beat - em - up gameplay, but deftly combines it with a hard - boiled crime drama punctuated with the liveliness of Kamurocho - the fictional red - light district of Tokyo the
game is set in - and all the distractions that a red - light district can offer.
The problems came when we jumped to 3D — right up into the
PS2 era there are
games that don't handle in an ideal way.
Some of my favorite
games are from the PS1 /
PS2 era where Sony utterly dominated.
I think both devs are very talented, PD does good stuff too but they need lots of time, where Turn10 is like «hey lets go there and get it done now», so clearly theres a key difference in dev philosophy & perhaps budget or whatever but my point is this is not the
ps2 era and although GT is still a great franchise imo Forza
games have advanced beyond GT.

Vice City is one of the most critically acclaimed
games from the
PS2 era due to an incredible storyline, fantastic celebrity voice acting, a vibrant take on Miami, a phenomenal soundtrack and several gaming innovations.
The brainchild of video
game icon Tim Schafer, «Psychonauts» is one of the
PS2 era's defining platformers.
The graphics aren't great (Princess Allura has some of the most awkward running animations I've ever seen in a
game and is a victim of that weird
PS2 -
era Japanese design that's all form and no function), but the
game itself is a lot of fun, and quite different from modern tower defense - style
games.
It echoes the chilling gameplay of the
PS2 era's most notorious
game, Rockstar's Manhunt.
The visuals in Mafia 3 are a bit of a mixed bag because at times the
game looks good but at other times it looks pretty bad with some textures looking like they are from the
PS2 era (that is no exaggeration by the way), it almost looks like they hadn't fully rendered properly.
With the title having such a solid following during the
PS2 era, it makes perfect sense for the
game to see a new entry or at least a reboot for the Playstation 4.
The problem is so many design choices feel like they were carried over from the
PS2 era of
games.
The control scheme, like most of the control schemes from the early
PS2 era, is fumbling at best, and I'm honestly surprised that I was able to beat that
game as many times as I did when I was a #teen.
Flying Missions -
Ps2 era GTA's: People usually have polarizing opinions on GTA
game, but there» no doubt that everyone hates the infamous «flying missions» that are shoehorned into the storyline.
This October saw a ton of new prerogatives — a new «PSN exclusives» selection, which attempts to promote
games that are exclusive to the service, as well as
PS2 Classics, a selection of classic titles from the pervious
era of
games.
Even though many
gamers had moved on to the PlayStation 3 by this point, I was completely enthralled by this late -
era PS2 game.
As a fan of the series since the
PS2 era, I can't wait for this
game.
Some of the greatest
games on PS came from the
PS2 era, and are the reason the
PS2 is still the best selling console of all time.
Concept wise, while I personally wish Naughtydog would return to form from the PS1 /
PS2 eras and make something more colorful and fantasy like, they did bring on the lead designer of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (a niche
game from 2010 I enjoyed a lot) to work with them, so I am intrigued.
The only remaining

Being the only
PS2 platforming trilogy I hadn't experienced (Jak and Ratchet took up much of my
PS2 era), I was keen to see how well these
games played, especially with retrospective eyes, given that my experience with Sucker Punch began with InFamous.

era Metal Gear Solid titles have returned, remastered - or rather, ported - to run on newer, more technologically advanced consoles.

You see, back in the PSX and
PS2 era, you didn't have a hard drive to save to (the
PS2 had one eventually, but that was mostly for one specific
game).
The original
PS2 «Okami» was an incredible
game, and this updated version appears to up the ante for the PS3
era.
The illustrative cover arts are decaying with every released
game since the
PS2 era, although I can't speak for every anime
game.
It is an indie action puzzle
game that right off the bat feels reminiscent of the
PS2 era.
Keeping up with the «looks like it's from the
PS2 era» vibe, everybody in this
game is a complete imbecile, be it your enemies or your allies.
Ratchet & Clank was a major presence on the PS3, as it had three then - new
games, a collection of the
PS2 era titles, and a digital re-release of Ratchet: Deadlocked, all released exclusively on the system.
I think people need to calm down with the fanboy wars and be glad this
game has day / night cycles as well as weather and no
PS2 era cardboard cutout crowds or environments that look like 3D extrapolated Google Maps.
