Studies of the link between orbital parameters and past climate changes include spectral analysis of
palaeoclimatic records and the identification of orbital periodicities; precise dating of specific climatic transitions; and modelling of the climate response to orbital
forcing, which highlights the role of climatic and biogeochemical feedbacks.
Here we briefly discuss the radiative
forcing estimates used for understanding climate during the last millennium, the mid-Holocene and the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM)(Section 9.3) and in estimates of climate sensitivity based on
palaeoclimatic records (Section 9.6.3).
