panel features a 960 x 540 (qHD) resolution.
Samsung still uses a
PenTile Super AMOLED
panel to deliver the punchy colours and excellent black levels, making it a great canvas for video and reading.
Samsung seems to have stopped using this brand and are now focused on
Pentile scheme for all of its AMOLED

According to our information, that AMOLED display does not use
PenTile, which probably means it's a Super AMOLED Plus
panel, the same one that Samsung uses in their own Galaxy 7.7 Tab.
Regardless of the resolution, the screen will always look just a little bit worse than a non
PenTile display like Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus
panels, and it's noticeable.
Having a 4.8 - inch
panel encourages you to hold the phone slightly further from your face, and even lengthening the distance from your eyeballs by a couple of inches can be enough to obscure the
PenTile effect.
The OnePlus 5T is using a 6 ″ 1080p Optic AMOLED
panel from Samsung with a Diamond
Pentile arrangement, and I have had very few problems with it.
The effective pixels - per - inch are lower than on a 1080p LCD
panel, mind you, given that the
pentile matrix of the phone's AMOLED display results in lower effective color resolution because of the uneven colored subpixels arrangement.
One could even make the argument that their first two devices (OPO and OP2) had a higher effective resolution, given they sported LCD
panels that didn't lose definition from a
Pentile subpixel arrangement.
Those were the days when we didn't have 1080p resolution displays, and the
PenTile pixel layout of the AMOLED
panels made text and details fuzzy, and whites turned gray or yellow.
For a start, there's none of the
PenTile grain that some find so frustrating on Samsung AMOLED
panels, with the G2's screen being bright, colorful, and grain - free.
While rumors don't indicate a resolution bump, it's worth noting that Samsung typically uses an
PenTile subpixel arrangement in its OLED
panels.
We look forward to getting more info from Samsung on the type of sub-pixel arrangement the Note 3
panel's uses —
PenTile like on the Galaxy S4 or a modified RGB like on the Note 2.
